It’s Friday afternoon and I’m picking up my daughter (7) from school. She walks up smiling … And immediately starts telling me about her day: “so we actually ended up being early even though we had to wait because the bus door wouldnt open so we just stood there and waited but then w-“ she pauses to take a breath “we got on the bus and we went there and we were early and ao we had to wait there for awhile not just because we were early but because the other school was late” she looks at me as I nod “but it was neat. before we went we didnt do a lot we just had the usual tests thst we have on friday i had my spelling test and a math test and we didnt really do anything else and then we came back and achool was over” she takes another breath “sometimes on fridays we get to watch youtube. its school approved youtube but our teacher lets us watch youtube on our computers on friday and my friend likes to watch these videos that are really funny but today we didnt get to watch youtube because we didnt get back from the field trip until the end of school” We’ve arrived home our short walk was … entirely her telling the story of her day in one long incredibly unbroken sentence. We walk inside, She looks at me for a moment, and then runs off to her room to play Barbies and listen to music I think she tells the story of her day like that so she can get it all out and then do her own thing But she also likes to talk … if there’s a moment of silence, she’ll have none of that 😝 The part that matters is my Presence. She just wants to share and be witnessed. Don’t underestimate the power of Presence … In everything. Show up. What you’re looking for will emerge. That’s what I’ve found anyway … and I wrote about it: Opening The Door to Your Full Potential - The Guardian Academy |

“I don’t think we need to spend more than 200.” I was telling my wife this as we discussed a possible new tent for our family camping trip this summer. “If that! I’ve seen plenty of options for less” she replied. Our life has changed this year, and while we’ve camped fine in the past, the addition of our new guy (8 weeks old as I write this email) has made a different dynamic. “What I really want is a great big cabin tent!” She went on. We’ve never really been “glampers” before … But camping...
After my “Achoo” email, I realized I need to cover a very important subject. It’s all about the idea of “The Solvable Problem” which is in fact INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY of Dan Nicholson, author of Rigging the Game. After writing the "Achoo" draft, I went back through and re-wrote the terms “solvable problem” in order to not be actually in violation of intellectual property … But I need to share this idea with you because it’s a foundation of how I approach my work and life. Essentially, how I...
Ok maybe I’m being a little cheeky, but last week’s email has me feelin GOOD and ON A ROLL. Let’s dive in … I’ve got so much to share. And I’m really gonna just put it all out there. Did you do your homework? At the beginning of this year … (I had a baby in between then and now, so I think my delay is forgivable) I sent an email imploring you to consider one KEY question, above all others, which is vitally important. Read it here if you missed that one. It’s a question I dig into with every...
